Service Suite - Stock count - Can the stock count be used to label my products?
A frequently used feature of the stock count module is the price labeling of products.
If you have a shop or a warehouse and wish to label all, or some of, your products, Service Suite is perfect for this purpose.
This can be done by first of all making a stock count of all the products to label. If you are not familiar with how stock counts are created in Service Suite this is explained in the articles: "How do I create a stock count?" or "How can I use my bar code reader to create a stock count?".
When you have made a stock count containing the products that you wish to print price labels for, you need to make a special report for the stock count. This is only possible if you have a valid license for the Report Designer in Service Suite.
This report can be created from the stock count module:

Here you click the link: "Print" from the icon bar, which launches this dialog:

If you have a valid license for the Report Designer in Service Suite, it will be possible to press the button: "New", which will launch the report designer with the dialog: "Add new report" active:

In this dialog we enter the name, description and author of the report as usual, and select the report type: "Stock count labels". The purpose of this type of report is to print price labels.
In this example we wish to print our price labels on an ordinary label sheet. We select the paper size of the label sheet from the tab: "Paper settings". Then we select the "Margins" tab, to define the margins for our label sheet:

As we wish to print the labels on a label sheet, we select the tab: "Labels" and define the settings that matches our label sheet:

Now we have defined the properties of our price labeling report, we press the button: "OK". Now we can define the report:

Because printing price labels for your products is one of the more special features in Service Suite, we will in this example assume that you are familiar with how the toolbar works, and how to insert fields on a report. Examples of how this is done can be found in other articles on this site.
After we have inserted a few fields our details section looks like this:

In this example we have chosen to include a bar code on the label, which is bound to the product number. This is done because we wish to make it easy to make new stock counts, and because we wish to use the bar code reader when creating sales orders in the sales order module.
When our report has been designed we select the menu: "Save and close", which will close the Report Designer and take us back to this dialog:

In this dialog we press the button: "Print preview" and our report could look like this:

The special thing about this "Stock count label" report is that each product is printed as many times as the quantity of products registered on the stock count. In this case the product: "BOARD001" is printed 3 times, because 3 pieces of this products was registered, "BOARD002" is printed 1 time, "BOOKS001" 4 times and so on.
If you have a real label printer, using this is recommended, as a roll of labels is easier to work with when doing the actual price labeling of your products.
Labeling of your products with prices and bar codes is only one way in which this type of report can be used. If you use this type of report for other purposes, we would very much like to know more about it.
